Advanced fuel surcharge control
Fuel surcharges vary between companies and it can be difficult and time consuming to adjust them for each customer. Profit Tools advanced fuel surcharge control lets your company:
-
Control the value of the fuel surcharge that is automatically added to a shipment.
-
Set the system to automatically assign different rates by customer and type of work being done.
-
Specify different surcharge types by both percentage and per mile rates based on mileage breaks.
These features allow you to calculate fuel surcharges for short and long hauls, intermodal moves, and other types of shipments or divisions your company has, and you can further vary these by customer. You can be certain you're always passing along accurate costs and capturing the maximum fuel dollars your customer will allow with advanced fuel surcharge control.

Crosscheck outstanding invoices from within Profit Tools
Profit Tools can crosscheck outstanding invoices from customers for companies that use QuickBooks accounting package. Authorized users can request to see a summary list of all open Quickbooks invoices for a specified company from within an open shipment. This lets you check and discuss payment status with customers before agreeing to take additional work from them.

Profitability implementation through Quote Builder
Quote Builder is another enhanced function of Profit Tools which gives users the ability to negotiate shipment charges when a customer requests a cost quote. Users can determine quotes in two ways:
-
Find out how much the customer is willing to pay for the load and then find out how much it will cost your trucking company to fulfill the request. From this information you can determine if it's in your interest to take on the shipment.
-
Or, the user can determine how much it will cost to take on the customer's shipping needs and then determine a reasonable quote.
Users have the option of setting profit margins they want to meet in order to determine profitability. The quote builder will calculate the net profit and determine if the desired profit margins will be met with either a green check or a red "x". The user can futher adjust the quote to see the resulting impact on profitability, enabling them to achieve the desired target margin before providing a quote to the customer.

Combined Shipment Profitability Analysis with Dynamic Dashboard
We've added the combined shipment probability analysis feature for users who want to look at the total profitability of two or more shipments. This is useful when the company is doing a front-haul and back-hail scenario, for example the import and export of a container. The imports and exports may have different profit margins which make one appear highly profitable and the other much less so. The user can get the full profitability story by looking at the combined profitability on the Dynamic Dashboard or from within the order-entry window.
The new Dashboard tool lets you easily drag and drop shipments to include them in the analysis. The combined profit is automatically calculated which lets users see the overall benefit or loss of profitability from handling both shipments.
